Ubuntu 9 04 not updating from cd
Maybe your connection is not fast enough or just not reliable to perform the upgrade.
Well, you can always upgrade using a CD/DVD ISO image.
Also, the 9.04 upgrade has been the smoothest upgrade yet.
Type the following commands to see current version: Next, type the following command to upgrade the Ubuntu server to the latest release such as LTS 14.04 from the command-line.
This is the recommended command as the server has no graphic environment or if the server is to be upgraded over a remote connection using ssh client: Update Manager should open up and tell you: New distribution release ‘14.04 LTS’ is available.
I figure when things change substantially it is better to clean install, but has the upgrade / autoclean process improved to the point that it is not necessary? I guess that was two reasons, but my point is I'm on the fence about it.
I usually go by "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" but my whole purpose for switching to Ubuntu was to experiment, so I think I'll just order a 9.04 cd and do a clean install once it gets here, and just back everything up onto my desktop which I know works out of the box.
